My copy of fifa soccer and shockwave both have "not for resale" imprinted on the cd, and a sticker on the case that reads "not for resale or redemption",also the manaul for Shockwave is in b/w. I found them with a goldstar and just assumed they came with the system, anyone know if that is true?
That's a rather harsh statement cahaz. I beg to differ actually, the system had potential, plus there are several cool Japan only games I'd love to get hold of. (Digital Press has a half finished article on some of them)
With you there szczepaniak, I have quite a number of the Jap only games. There was also quite a reasonable dojin following - I have 6 unofficial 3do only photo cd style games - which are reasonably interesting. There is also a very entertaining jan-ken-pon game, quite a few AO games which are actually quite fun - in a non-pervy way. As for actual games I would recommend - Sword and sorcery - which is a very solid Rpg Sailor Moon - quite a hard fighting game actually A funky and ultra hard puzzle game from warp (forgotten name) A "beat up the old pervert" game - again from warp! Doctor Hauzer - love the music and of course where everyone claims the biohazard concept originated Anyway those are the games that make the machine worth a play every now and again. There is a lot of shit on the 3do - particularly of the western variety. Oh and fmv games. But its not all as bad as you make out. But I'm guessing you didn't really mean to condemn ALL 3do - I could be wrong though!
Well said Warakia. Though wasn't Sword and Sorcery released stateside as Luciennes Quest? But yeah, a nice solid RPG. Doc hauzer looks like a cool AitD style game. The one I like the look of the most though is "Taiketsu!", which appears to be a cutesy simaltaneous 4 player title. There are some nice Western titles of course, like Star Control 2. 3DO games were so cheap in Japan, when I was last there, I wished I had snagged all these difficult to get hold of titles. Plus, the system is thankfully region free, with the exception of a few games that require the extra Kanji ram. I've also heard tales of the systems being practically given away in "junk sofuto" shops. I love its pad design, the interlinking mechanism was genius. Otherwise, I'm actually a big fan of FMV games, which really makes it a nifty system for me to own! EDIT: Do you have a copy of "Taikestu!" by any chance? If so, can you describe how it plays?
Yeah they are given away. Unboxed 1000 yen is a good price - which is the price of lunch! Boxed max of 3500 yen. I most of my games for under 2000 yen and my arcade stick and vcd cards for about 3000 yen each. So you can get a virtually complete collection in a day or two I reckon! The only expensive stuff are the rare mahjong - hentai games. Oh and the 3DO branded vcds and Photo cds. Its a nice system to own take out once a month and play through your whole collection for a day. The thing I love about the 3do is the headphone jack in the controller - with great sound quality. I wish they could do it for all games system as my tv's head phone out is really poor. As for taiketsu - can't play it right now as I am in uni accomadation, so most of collection is not here. My memory serves me that it is quite good - havn't played it much, poor loading and quite hard. If I get a chance I'll give you more details.
