Well, I did a decent solder job on the Mega CD... but now it wants to be a pain. If I plug it in to the Genesis with the region mod, turn the power on... and nothing. Sometimes the lights will flash and if I press reset, it will either go to a black, white, or red screen until I shut it off. Games and region mod work fine on the Model 1.... why is it doing this? Damn this POS.

I have a (totally wrong) idea as to why this is happening:

Replaced the fuse with a Bussman fuse holder and 2.5A glass fuse on a Mega CD and this was the result. Also did a region mod, but it worked great.

Have you recapped the power board on the mega CD? Mine acted in a similar way recently and doing this solved it.
You should also recap the main board while you're at it.

I'll echo the recapping the power board suggestion. I've got a VA0 Mega-CD and it's got leaky caps everywhere, especially the non-10uF ones. Come to think of it... crap I missed the 15% off sale at Element14 / Farnell :(

Huh. No caps look bad... but through-pin is easy, so I guess I'll try the power board and then the mainboard. Thanks guys!

BTW, anyone know how to test the LM7801? It could be a culprit as well...
