http://mblog.lib.umich.edu/~rdivecha/archives/2006/02/the_world_of_sm.html New touch screen tech with some nice interactions with the programs. An OS based on this idea might be fun if not exhausting to play with.
Very nice, but I would suspect it's still 5 years away from being "affordable" and unless Microsoft get on the bandwagon, no other companies (I dare say Apple might give it a go though) would be interested.
That's some pretty impressive technology! I would someday love to try that out if the project is ever able to leave NYU. My fingers sure would be tired though.
If anyone is truly interested in multi-touch systems, take a look at the SIGCHI (Computer-Human Interaction) and UIST (User Interface Software and Technology) conferences for the past three years. There have been a lot of good applications developed. I am rather concerned about the Apple patent statement, unless the patent is VERY old or deals with the EE side, as this type of application is not new from a research standpoint.
Very impressed. The photo's part was really interesting. Who wants to bet when this is out, everyones gonna be clammoring for the same thing except without actually touching the screen ala Minority Report?
