I recently bought an NPDP-GDEV unit from a UK seller on ebay. I just plugged in the unit the other day, and get a video signal out of it whenever i plug it into my tv. I can hear the fans and whatnot whirring inside the machine and have tried every combination of dipswitches i can. Could it be that im using a third party av cable? Please help

I don't know this for sure, but if the npdp-gdev is like every other Nintendo dev kit it won't show anything until it is hooked up to a pc with the correct drivers. Also, don't mess with the dipswitches unless you know what your doing or you could damage the unit.

Check the insides to see of their is any damage or loose sockets. Nintendo development stuff is not my specialty as you can see, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I read somewhere that you need the nintendo DHH system to even boot it up. But I could be wrong.

    Hello Trevor,

When you turn the unit ON, you should have a message on the screen saying "Checking...." even if you don't have a connection with a computer or a NPDP cart connected to it. What is exactly your problem ?

No need for the DDH to get video out of it. There is a very good thread about all Nintendo Gamecube development hardware on this forum, in the related section. It can help you a lot.

I ended up getting a video out of it. It turned out to be my AV cable
