none of the available modchips do support either reading NR discs on retail cubes or vice-versa or reading pirated copies on NR readers. The reason is that a.) a NR reader has the same ID (but different firmware) than old retail drives, making it a bit difficult (but of course not impossible) to detect/differentiate them, and b.) the retail "dvd controllers" don't support the special seed mode used by NR discs, at least not with the retail configuration. bottom line: it doesn't work. But you can of course always swap drives, as NR-readers are normal retail cubes with a different drive.
NR reader Please can anybody tell me where to find this NR reader if not whoever owns one and is willing to sell I am willing to pay a nice amount of money for it!!
Obviously haven't been a game designer forever, then ;-) Don't double post the same question in multiple threads, by the way.
You can easily install a modchip in an NR Reader. Actually, it is easier to just take the optical drive out of an NR Reader and plant that into an already-modded gamecube. But honestly, you gain pretty much nothing by doing this. Nothing I can think of off the top of my head, anyhow, as you still need to have a perfectly function NR Reader in hand Basically, as others have said in this thread, you need an NR Reader to read NR discs. No other way (I've tried many).
You should drop this in the market place and follow the appropriate guidelines, it should sell very quickly, best of luck.
Listen I am sorry I asked the question since it has offended some of you. lol I always seem to bump everyones thread.
I am a game designer forever it is an art that I enjoy and will continue to brush up on my skills FOREVER! I dont think I posted that question two times oh well.
