I read a rumor that the NR disks were simply created because licensing dvd's would be too costly. The rumor is that the NR disks are actually dvd's but are written in a strange pattern, has anyone ever tried putting a mini dvd-r into an NR reader?
They've got a different code at the beginning of the disc and from what I remember can only be used if you get blank mini DVD media (and I mean black as in, contains NO DATA AT ALL which you as a consumer can't get, each disc has a manufacturer ID and whatnot which you'd need to have blank and write to it the data from an official NR disc) and then in theory it should work.
