G'day guys. I'm new here so go easy on me. I recently picked up a Prototype of Super Robotector that was used for final Q&A before the game was released for the Euro Market. As far as I know this is the only USA/NTSC version of Super Probotector as obviously in the USA it was Contra 3: the alien wars. Now the game works just fine, I've played it through to the end and it's definately a legit Q&A cart fit for use in a USA SNES. Now my question to you guys would be... what do you think it's worth? I know the game was mass produced and was very popular, but seeing it was one of the better games on the SNES I figure it'd be worth quite a bit for a 'collector' despite the fact you could find the game itself cheaply. Bidding on this game was quite fierce, so I have a rough idea of what the marketplace would pay.. but it was a short auction. Anyone want to throw around a value?
I guess it would depend on a few things, like: What does the title screen say? If it says Contra 3, it isn't worth much. If it says Super Probotector you're doing better. Basicly the price will depend on how close your copy is to the final version. If there's debug code in there it'll be worth a lot, if it's the qa master before stamping, then not so much. I have a feeling this is the cart you bought: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73473 As for price, maybe $75-100 among proto collectors, perhaps a bit more on ebay.
That's the one. Only played it the one time and for the life of me can't remember what the title screen was like. I'll give it a whirl when I get home (probably tomorrow) and get all the info I can on it (maybe with a few screenshots) Only reason I bought it was because I loved the game and I figured it'd make a nice conversation topic.
Here you go guys. Sorry for the long delay. The game is identical to the final version of Super Probotector. Here's the title screen. http:\\www.palgamer.com\superp.jpg Do you think I should dump this rom? I don't know if it'll be worthwhile???
Venca: it would be cool, if the rom was dumped, and I don´t see it as bad, if you did that. Since it wouldn´t hurt you ($) if you sold it afterwards.
I'll try and do a dump over the weekend... seeing I have no idea where under the 4258454 tons of junk my old UFO drive is. The reason I thought it wouldn't be worthwhile was because it may not have any new code within it... I have no way of checking these things, I'm not a programmer. If I dumped it is there any special place I should put it?
Sorry to revive an old thread, but if you want to check your dump, download GoodSNES from www.allgoodthings.us (You need to register at their forums to download). GoodSNES will tell you if your dump is the same as any of the dumps in it's database (about 11,000 ROMs). Make sure to rename your dump's extension to something GoodSNES recognizes, like smc.
