Looks like Nvidia is joining in to the android console craze, but putting a 5" 720p screen on thiers. Plus with tegra 4 this is the first of the android consoles that could be really cool, depending on the price. Knowing Nvidia, they make great products but I would guesstimate this would be no less than 150, more likely 200. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/07/ces-nvidia-introduces-project-shield-android-gaming-handheld
Not at all actually, being able to play battle field lying on my bed would be awesome, I have a laptop and all but its just such a hassle to setup when you just want to sit down and chill.
What's the Droid's Shmup library looking like? Once I get a hold of that vs iOS I'm going to start looking to see what android device is for me.
Pretty much the same as iOS, but as there is no regulation there are a lot more but not all are that great. But at least you can play some flash games in browser(the few miniclip games I played worked on touch). Also sorry for off topic but android does get kinda old and really suckish after ~1-2 years, hell I switched to a wp8 and it was the best upgrade ever! Android just has far too many devices so developers drop ROM and root developement pretty fast so once your phone starts slowing down you are kinda screwed.
Yeah, screwed like all the people who bought WP7 phones only to find out they couldn't be upgraded to 8...not that many people bought WP7 anyway. As far as Android games go, they are mostly crap. Buying an Android device for shmups? lol.
Haha I was just looking at this today. 1. Seems gimmicky. Sure, it'll be nice to play PC games on it, but only within X feet of your GTX equipped PC. Pah, I say! 2. Also, the design, although comfortable-looking, looks plain odd. Like a hardcore DS. 3. And it runs Android. I don't think a game console will get far off the ground without a custom OS. 4. Not too sure about any Android-based games. I just haven't seen anything super graphically intense for Android, and quite frankly there's no real point because the lot of Android users are smartphones and tablets, not gaming machines. However 1. It's running the newest Nvidia chip, which is quite a dandy little one. Powerful, yet energy efficient. 2. It's coming out soon. Really soon. 3. It's directly from Nvidia, a solid, trusted company, so you can expect good support/hardware/build quality/software support. 4. It may just change where games are made and for what platforms, as per con #4 above. Maybe people will port games that are Android based, but only compatible for the Shield? Also guster, I'm going to be switching to WP8- going from an S3 to a Lumia 920. It's a switch I've been wanting to do for a while- WP always seemed so smooth and interesting. Plus I never really do anything with my phone besides calling, text, internet, music etc. How did you find the switch?
It might be gimmicky, but ihave some faith in Nvidia, I might be at CES this week so I'll try to check it out or have my friend there check it out if he can. If it isn't too much and lives up to the promises they make(unlike vita), it could be really awesome. I thought it was amazing, in 2 months the phone has literally enver crashed and it runs very smoothly. I have in the end used my phone for nothing else than what you said so it seemed worthwhile. I wish I could have gotten the 920, verizon made me get the htc 8x, which has turned out great. The only issue I have is no flash and you can't respond to pm's from any browser I have tried(might be my phone). But I would recommend it, the best part is being able to manage my excel sheets and word docs really, its an amazing work/buisness phone that gets stuff done.
That looks an awful lot like the MOGA controller for phones. Plus of course the MOGA can be upgraded with a new phone. http://www.powera.com/moga
