Hi, I figured I post my find that I made not that long ago on a fleamarket as it is obscure enough, at least for me as I have never seen one. Never posted here, but I do remember assembler from the old days (about 10 years ago) when it was just a collection of articles and did not have a forum. What makes it special in my eyes is of course the loose cassette. A normal LCD handheld just comes with a built in screen and one or multiple games. Here they went another route and I wonder how many games were released. The handheld does not have a name or brand. It works, but the game is a bit glitchy. Not sure if it is caused by the cassette or the handheld. Would like to know/learn more about it besides sharing it with you all.
Yeah, the description definitely sounds like a POP Station, or one of the versions of it under other names/random numbers.
Hmm, the pictures were loading fine for me, but it must have been the cache because they are gone now. Here is the gallery. flickcabin.com/public/viewset/41104
I remember seeing a gameboy clone. I think it was called Baby Boy? It was a horizontal rather than vertical gameboy and it had like 3 games built in. Super Mario Land, Tetris (I think?), and something else. My memory is all hazy about it but that's what I remember. Maybe some other assembler members remember better (or more correctly) than I do?
I know the clone you are talking about and so does ASSEMbler. He may even own it. When the ASSEMbler museum was on line many years ago there were picture of this clone. A far better design than the original GameBoy in my opinion. Yakumo
