Hi all, I have a obscure version of Resident Evil for PC but I can't find informations about it on the web. Is it a Europe or American version? Cover is the same as japanese version but with "Resident Evil" instead of "Biohazard" The opening video is in color, not black and white as the version released by Virgin Interactive. Heheh, that's what I thought. Pretty obvious hint Goes along well with the similarities to the Japanese version, too.
If I remember correctly, RE had a re-release with the color intro after it surfaced on other systems, too. But over here in Europe everyone was so obsessed with the playstation version(s) that few people really cared for the PC versions, apart from those hoping for a port for their special 3d accelerator board.
All European versions are in black & white as far as I know, the US had a uncut colour release http://www.onlinegamesdatenbank.de/index.php?section=game&gameid=1123 Capcom botched the UK / US PS1 Director's Cut releases of re1 and left it censored so they uploaded the uncut intro fmv on the capcom site as an apology, the french and german releases have into in colour though.
I have a bootleg of this somewhere. A friend gave to me but i never bothered to install and test it. If you guys are interested, i can try looking for it to compare files / region.
