I was referred to ASSEMbler by a user on Unseen64 who states that ASSEMBler raises funds to create public dumps of prototypes, and I believe this is something to be of great interest.

A Not for Resale cartridge of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was just listed on eBay. This is something that I have only seen available on eBay once in my lifetime. As many recall, a dump of the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Not for Resale demo is already available, and this is the final trophy to complete the collection. I've contacted the seller to receive photos of what the file menu looks like, but haven't yet received a response. In the Majora's Mask demo, you are able to complete various challenges in order to spike your interest into purchase the final product.

I'm not exactly if this is the proper way to drum up support for a fundraiser to get this dumped, but perhaps someone can point in the right direction so everyone can enjoy this.

You can find the eBay listing here:

And the initial thread I posted about on Unseen64 here:

We have an ebay thread for these things.

That price is entirely unreasonable, it's not that rare an item and not worth $400

Thanks for the response! A user of the Unseen64 forums also claimed that the price did not properly integrate with the value of the cartridge. Hopefully we'll see something arrive one day at a more acceptable price.

Anyone who wants $400 for what is a bulk cart sent to hundreds of game shops is going to not budge on price.

Best bet is to search for OOT carts and check all the auctions that show and one will eventually be a NFRS.

I've encountered many NFR cartridges of Majora's Mask for sell, but have rarely come across the Ocarina of Time NFR and thought it might have been of worth. If the NFR cartridges are often mistaken as originals at auctions, then perhaps I just need to maintain higher awareness. Thanks for the advice!

The Ocarina of Time NFRS cart is the same as the retail release of the game. I have one, I've dumped it, it's 1:1 the same ROM.

Really? That's actually quite shocking. So Nintendo created a Not for Resale that is in actuality just a final product to be used in stores? No different file select menu?

a fair majority of NFR carts are 1:1 retail matches, collectors bite on em though

It makes sense for a developer to not want to go through separate work to create a separate build of their game for demos, but I wouldn't have expected such for Ocarina of Time. All of the Nintendo demos I have played have unique menus, even if it just says 'Demo' somewhere on the title screen.

Nintendo NFR with different binary is something rather new from the DS era.
Before that they where almost always identical to the release version.

Only exception that come to my mind are the Majora gray demo and Minish cap with DEMO text on label.

Those OOT NFR and the MM NFR Gold are worth nothing, really easy to find I saw about 3 or 4 each month on ebay.

Minish cap DEMO is quite cheap to get actually but the Majora Mask gray NFR one is for sure one of the most expansive N64 cart to get.

Good to know! It wasn't until just a few years ago that kiosks have become interesting for me, so perhaps that is why I wasn't aware of that the binary is the same for most older NFR games. When checking on eBay, I come across the Minish Cap NFR and Gold Majora's Mask NFR quite often, but I wasn't aware that there was a gray Majora's Mask NFR. The OOT NFR I've only come across one other time until today.

Derekb, I sent you a private message with an inquiry about your E3 2005 Twilight Princess Demo. I'm not sure if private messages show noticeable notifications, so please take time if you would to check your inbox for the message. Thanks!

benbegins is a lite scamer, he doesn't actually fully test his items, nor does he even bother listing things at right prices.

You can also see he sells funtastic series Nintendo 64s with the Expansion cover separate for $30! He's one of the biggest rips on eBay right now.
