Hey guys, thought someone here may know a bit of background about this. It looks to be some kind of display Famicom. There's a slot in the Mario cart (maybe for flyers?) and it's hinged (to store flyers/brochures?) Weird thing about it though is it looks like it came from a Famicom molding, but there are some differences. Looks like a regular Famicom, right? For a start, there are no cables to the controllers. The only button on the front which functions is the cart eject, the others are just for show. There are also no ports on the back, just black markings for where they go. (you'll also see the hinges, we'll get to them in a moment!) Then we have the slot cut in the cart. The cart is stuck to the console, can't be removed. (You can see the eject mechanism working through the slot cut in the cart) Now if we lift the front, something happens...! There are screw hole posts, but no actual holes. I find this a bit strange - you'd think it meant that it's just a regular Famicom molding without screw holes/AV holes punched through - but then how do we explain the hinges? Volume control for player 2 cannot be moved, there's a piece of plastic stopping it - so also just for show Copywrite Nintendo, 1985 Anyone know anything more about these?
That's the Nintendo MD Case. They came out around 2005... They also made one that looked like the FDS. If you have any minidiscs, feel free to case them in there! Although, I guess today it would be better suited for UMD's...

Hah! Wow, of all the things in the world I thought it might be, I would never in a million years have guessed that. Mad to think it's only from 2005, it's about as yellowed as a real Famicom and the cart label looks like it's been sitting in the sun for 20 years :biggrin-new: Thanks for the info guys!
I was gonna say it's too new to have been from the original FC era, those labels on the back are using Arial
