Well just by reading the sticker it says to attach a N64 game to the bottom of it then probably came with a cable to attach it to your computer.

It's a part of the Wildcard64 copier... you need a special ISA (if I remember correctly) card to operate it though, along with the PC software of course :)

I have one as well, incl. the card for the PC, but never bothered to try it.

The Wildcard64 was supposedly also sold as "Supercom Partner 64" :)

Ah, thanks for the info everyone. Guess it's not that useful by itself.

Do you know if it's just a COMMS Link card?

Perhaps, if the DIP40 is an i8255. I think the cart part has some hardware for level translation at the very least.

Thanks for the pic of the SP/WC ISA card nesworld, thats the first close pic I've seen of one them in all the years I've owned mine. (didn't get one when I bought mine years ago) It's not a comms link card, it's an ISA parallel port adapter.

It was meant to act as a secondary LPT port on the PC, so you could have the above Data Reader device permanently connected to 0x278-0x27F, < (typical second LPT address) while having the SuperCom/Wildcard connected to 0x378-0x37F.

I would also like to see some inside photo's of the data reader, if you could please MasterOfPuppets, as I think I might have messed my data reader up some years ago. I took it upon myself some years ago to solder some of the parallel pins (that were not soldered) to the PCB. :banghead: I thought I was being clever, lol. But it didn't bother me that it didn't read cartridges because I could always download what I wanted. But I'd like to get it working now as just a matter of completness.

There's a tool called read64.exe/read96.exe and read128.exe, which is used (in DOS) to retrieve the data off the cartridge. But all Ive ever got is files/roms full of 0's, even after setting my LPT address to 278. Also the Parallel Port mode has to be changed in the PC bios settings, but I can't remember if it's epp or ecp mode.

There's a cached site for the Chameleon Wildcard 64 here http://web.archive.org/web/20050207051604/http://www.lizzard.demon.co.uk/index2.htm where some useful tools may come in handy.
