I recently started collecting PAL region GameCube games and came accross "Franklin: Un Anniversaire Surprise" / "Franklin: A Birthday Surprise" is it some super rare game or somthing because I can't find any games shop selling it and only 2 on ebay Germany for a crazy price and 1 French seller on Amazon for a high price. It's not even listed on some PAL GameCube lists If anyone here is into GameCube collecting was there ever a UK version of this game or was it a French/German exclusive?
Amazon UK has it for 30 pounds http://www.amazon.co.uk/Franklin-A-...=UTF8&qid=1383208375&sr=1-8&keywords=franklin According to Game FAQ http://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube/934256-franklin-a-birthday-surprise/data it was released in 06, probably why nobody talks about it.
Franklin: A Birthday Surprise was only released in France. It pops up often enough on Ebay.fr so don't go paying £30 for it on amazon. You should have no trouble picking it up for about £5 plus postage. If you're collecting PAL GC games I have a little bundle for sale in the marketplace.
Came out on PS2 in the UK. There's a companion DS and GBA game so I guess the GC version was inches away from a UK release too.
It was one a quite a few PAL games which never saw a UK release, but it doesn't really make it a worthy addition to a collection, unless you're attempting to be completive. http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/47482411/Franklin-Un-Anniversaire-Surprise-Jeu-Gamecube.html
I believe TMNT, Avatar, Shrek Smash & Crash and Ratatouille are notable examples of PAL excluding UK releases. Any others?
I know of quite a few that either didn't have a UK release or were released in almost non-existent numbers, like Fire Heroes, Kuon, Rule of Rose, Fire Pro Wrestling, Ar Tonelico, Raw Danger, Lupin III (a couple of games), Wild Arms 4. Basically a load of stuff published by 505 Games, some of which wasn't released in the UK for reasons unknown, because there wasn't enough of a fanbase for them (e.g. Lupin III) or for other various reasons (such as Rule of Rose, which was pulled because an EU Justice Minister picked out the game as being sadomasochist and paedophilic and the media jumped onto the game-bashing bandwagon). I remember in the retro games shop I used to work in, we managed to get a sealed UK copy of Rule of Rose for £3 and stuck it straight on eBay for £100+.
