Hello. I just bought a second hand moded ps1 for like 15 bucks and since I got it I wasted almost 10 cds trying to figure out exactly how should I burn them to make them compatible with the ps. I've used more than one programs and burned the cds at different speeds from x1 to x48. What did I notice? First or second CD i've made with Castlevania, loaded the game just fine, but it was a cd at speed x48. The only problem, due to the speed I presume, was that the video cut-scenes and the audio was lagging severely jumping from one frame to another, but the actual game play was alright. OKAY. So i headed back to the PC and burned another cd at x16 with Grand Turismo this time. Back to the PS1, put the cd in, starts spinning, game loads and remains in the game's first screen (companies, market, designer names etc). It freezez. After that experience I'm burning other cds at various speeds again, but everything freezez at one point i'll explain now. If there is no cd inside, PS is open, it passes the Intro Playstation screen and it goes to the menu (Save card and cd player) and I can move between them (although i dont have a save card). If I put any cd inside, the menu freezez and I can't do anything. I dont know what to do. I'm thinking if I've damaged it, by some chance, using so many cds at so many speeds, but can't see any real reason for it to damage like that... Anyways, if anyknow knows, is this repairable? Any ideeas what's going on? Thanks.
Use different CD-r's also what region are the images you are burning and what region is the PS1? *Where are you located? I have a bunch of refurbished laser units for most models here (The diodes have been replaced and cleaned).
