I have a PS2 pad (official one) that: lacks the rubbers on the controller sticks has no rumble and was part of a TOOL set. Is the controller in bad shape, or just some sort of prototype?
Do we get pictures or do we have to imagine it? The rubbers could have been ripped off and the rumble could be buggered, maybe if you shake it, it will do the PS2 ltd ed maracas?
Indeed, it seems to be buggered. That said, I ll get another controller to make some comparisons before I write it off.
I know the first Dual Shock on Ps1 did not have rumble. (but those ones included analog sticks). a similar controler for the ps2 perhaps?
That was the Analog controller, not called the dual shock, and it had three modes instead of two, as well as a green LED and longer grips. This is just a PS2 controller that seems to be bust i m afraid.
I have some of those. Plastic, no rubber. These were early dev samples. I don't have many of them, and all of them are broken, the quality is poor. The thumbsticks have plastic concave indents instead of the rubber convex domes. There are no injection holes for a rubber jacket like on the retail dual shock.
update - the dual shock 2 I have carries a sort of sticker refering to some patents on the sticker or something and is also of a different non-glossy plastic (glossy plastic is usual for retail dual shocks)
The bottom reads: SONY (R) ANALOG CONTROLLER Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. A (for America I presume?) SCPH- 10010 MADE IN KOREA US PAT Nos etc.

The plot thickens! I connect a fried's PS2 pad (That I recall it had rumble on his!) and mine doesn't shake!! (despite the setting being VIBRATION ON) could it be the console? (no idea how the rumble signal is communicated - whether it's logical or purely electrical)
