So, I've got a stack of GBA carts here that aren't going to be used anymore and was told I could snag a few if I wanted. Thought it might be fun to mess around with at home, but would have to pick up a flasher. Anyone know of any third party flashers that work with the official carts? I've done some googling and the general theme seems to be that official carts can only be flashed by official hardware.

  2. ...Thats the usual case I'm afraid, as the firmware is the limiting/securing factor.

are you talking about the old long boards?
if yes, i was reading a article from Jeff Frohwein some time ago.
i wrote that it is possible to mod a "flash to advance" (the first gba flasher) writer to make it work with official cards.

Yes, its possible with the help of an MBV2 (which are very cheap...).

Move resistor R7 to R8, then use the open-source MBV2 transfer client.
