Hey there everyone, As you might have noticed by some of my posts I take an interest in North Korea AKA The DPRK. In the DPRK, people wear pins on the left side of their chest near the heart to commemorate the leaders of their country. These pins are not available to any foreign nationals and finding them outside of the hermit kingdom can prove to be quite a challange. I present to you: Kim Jong Ill (Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army AKA The Dear Leader) on the far left and his father, Kim Ill Sung (Great Leader AKA Eternal President) and another variation with the symbol of the worker's party on the top left of the red pin. Thank You and Enjoy!
it's supposed to be a brush - to represent the intellectuals  At any rate, an amazing find. Are you sure these are not knockoffs? All I have in the "repressive regime memorabilia" department are some Bashar Al-Assad fridge magnets and a German translation of the "Works of Kim Il-Sung", part 34 :033:
Even if they are fakes, they are still nice to own as few outside of NK would care for them. To be honest, it's probably quite hard to distinguish the reals from the fakes anyway, judging by the amount of money lavished on their citizens.
These things are so real it hurts, the back of the pins have nothing more than a needle that has been bent into an oval that goes through two holes in the back, even most nations outside of the DPRK could afford to use a pin of some sort. Plus, I don't think it would have been worth the effort to bootleg something like this since I assume that interest in DPRK items wouldn't be much of a business, I don't know of many willing to pay currency for this kind of stuff other than a handful.
Nice find, Brilliant2menu! I wonder who would sell such a thing, though. If someone over there is caught not wearing a pin, they can be thrown in jail.
