1. Someone knows if the official cable is wired to CSYNC over luma or CSYNC over composite video? 2. If its wired to CSYNC over composite video what is the best method to open the cable without break it? 3. From your point of view inside the cable every wire is shielded? Thanks!
It won't be using luna for sync. It will most likely be composite video. But I can check when I get time, as I have an official cable.
According to eviltim RGB diagrams it is wired CSYNC over composite video. From your point of view it makes a difference if I wired it to CSYNC over luma? I'm playing on a CRT Sony Trinitron 4:3 format. Thanks!
I'd say probably not. Since it's the official cable, it probably has the best output you can get without modding the system itself, rather than the cable. I use composite video as sync for my PS1 and PS2, and the video quality is extremely good. By the way – and please don't take this as an insult, I'm just trying to give you some information I think could be helpful – it's called sync on composite video or sync on luma. CSYNC means composite sync, which is not the same as those other types of sync.
No insult taken, you are correct. I've copied the info from the RGC site The only question that remains is if this cable have all the wires shielded separately like the RGC cables PACKAPUNCH edition. From a first inspection I will say that the cable is very thick.
I’m don’t know, but my guess would be no. Do you already have the Sony cables? If so, I’d say you should just use those regardless, since they should be at least as good as the RGC cables.
New info: I've opened it and I've find that all the wires have one grand isolation (not fully wired/grounding like RGC PACKAPUNCH edition). So case closed about the sync on luma (the cable is wired for sync on composite video) and the shielding. Update: One question remains if someone can answer me: The PlayStation 2 official RGB cable (black color) have the same components inside and is identical to PlayStation 1 official RGB cable (grey color)? Thanks!
Hmm, mine is different. Has a step up for switching the display mode too. Ill make a schematic of it, when I get time
Technically PS1 and PS2 cables should differ. Ps1 doesn't have AC coupling capacitors on its RGB outputs so they should be present in the cables. PS2 has AC coupling capacitors on its RGB outputs so shouldn't have them in the cables. Not sure about early PS2 pre V3.
Mine is same like yours Bad_Ad84. Are you sure HI_Ricky that yours is not modded to have that capacitors?
Maybe is not the same because they are the Japanese version and we have the European one??? Can someone post some pictures with the PlayStation 2 RGB cable? (from inside)
