As i can never have enough official rgb cables, this time i plan to buy an official sega mega drive 2 rgb scart cable. do they really exist? i know france has an official rgb scart for model 1, but i can't find accurate info for model 2. some say there is and some say there isn't. and if there is does it still have the black box in like the cable for model 1 and need modification?,

if this site is accurate, there really is. http://hardware.segakore.fr/en/video_cable_3.html

    thanks

i am not so sure on that. here is one of the sites that list this item. only that is for saturn. we all know megadrive 2 is 9 pin and saturn is 10 pin.

the only site which says sega mega drive 2 rgb cable has code MK-1637-09 is the one i linked above. http://hardware.segakore.fr/en/video_cable_3.html. so i don't know about the validity of that site.

i have the confirmation for sega mega drive i rgb scart but not for ii, that is why i created the thread.

and a lot of german sites list MK-1637-09 as saturn cable. i am not saying i do not trust you, i just want to be sure if that cable really exists or not, and if there is such a cable, i want to know if i have to mod it like the sega mega drive 1 scart cable to use on a non-french tv or not.

of course if it is on sega service manual, it is a solid proof. may i have a link please for that manuel?

thanks for the links. i can assure you none of these links were in the first two pages of my google search except the ebay.co.uk page.

well, as the modification is very simple, i can buy it safely. need to have an eye on ebay.fr.

I got myself one from ebay. Not sure what the model is but the cable is really thick, I would expect something more robust like the official rgb cable for the atari jaguar.

On the other hand the plug side is well made with a pcb inside like the official super famicom rgb cable. I had to disable the voltage pin because it was making a loud buzz. There's a voltage regulator IC on the board too.

i found and bought one after posting this. yes they exists like Fandangos explained and they are nearly unuseable due to the noise created from voltage regulator. just cut it out and enjoy the crystal clear picture.
