Xbox 360 Galaxy got their hands on a spec sheet for the Xbox 360 Camera. The hand-out lists the specs for the (hopefully) soon to be released next-gen add-on. The lead-in to the specs mentions gesture recognition and says that the camera is “deeply integrated into the Dashboard.†Sounds an awful lot like the EyeToy. Kotaku
Yet another "Me too" peripheral that is unnecessary for a console... Seriously, how many people used the Eye Toy?
I would ratter buy a controlled-mounted camera for video chat during games. Something like the incoming messages in starfox.
I'd say that's one more reason to avoid Live, but with the avatars appearing on the gamer tags, not even the internet will be safe from filth anymore!
That would be hilarious, as most would just be a streaming video of someones chin and gaping nostrils.
If I wanted to watch a bunch of geeks playing videogames I'd cruise over to GAME/ebgames or the local arcade. I personally can't stand voice-chat and the like. There are too many bloody kids online! (no offence intended forum members)
Haha, yes voice chat/real life images in games can be awkward and weird. I was playing UT 2004 at one point and this like 12 year old was using voice chat, speaking all dramatic and sounding really crap, he had the lowest score end game. I assure you that plenty of people use the eye-toy it's a popular "non-gamer" addition.
Well, it might be an easy way to video chat with friends at least. I can't see myself using it much, I've got an Eyetoy that rarely comes out of the box as it is. Also means appearance is dragged into things, so those who aren't blessed with good looks might be put off, which sucks.
