Does anybody know why the American OXM demo discs came both in cardsleeves and (thin) DVD cases for the SAME issue? I have #23 in both. See picture. Both discs are 100% identical.
I'm from Greece and we had the plastic cases here. I remember this one! Btw, off topic but because I've thrown most away, as far as I remember in a demo disc was an army kind game that I've been looking to find since then. Can you help in finding its name? It had barrels with fire, the game used to start in a path where you met some other soldiers and later you had to place a bomp to a gas station. xD Any idea would be appreciated.
I believe it was that the cases were ones at newsstands/stores, and the sleeves were for subscribers (probably to save on shipping costs). I was a subscriber for a year or so (until I got a 360 and all that was on it were demos I could download) and all the ones I got mailed to me were in sleeves, but in stores they had cases.
GodmanGen, Greece is a whole different thing. I don't know the game you are asking for, I never had an Xbox. I bought these for Dino Crisis 3 because I collect survival horror games/demos/promos etc. (Whut, since when did Dino Crisis 3 become a survival horror game, sucker? ) Sonicsean89 + APE, that makes a lot of sense, thanks!
DVD cases were for the retail Cardboard sleeves were from subscribes. Fun fact: I Have EVERY OXM demo disc. I have the entire history of the 360 and XBOX Classic well documented as I have pretty much every issue of OXM from 2001-2013
Just found some locally and bought them! Btw, it seems that there are different versions per region cause my issue 23 is not like yours xD
Ok, I thought I was the only one. I could look at them if I went into the page source code and found the URLs, and it's strange, those look to be in regular sized DVD cases, not the slim ones that we got in the US.
I have all the discs too, bought the entire lot online at Ebay. The earlier discs have a cardboard sleeve, later discs came in a plain paper sleeve. Curious is if this is how the later discs came in with the magazine for subscribers. FUN FACT 2 Some of the discs have unreleased games as playable demos including a very expensive import playable demo hidden on the Conker Xbox magazine demo disc. There are also some discs that have the DLC right on the disc as a full install! The DLC has long since been no longer available from Microsoft.
Yeah they are different in each country, even withing Europe they are different for different countries. For example British demos came in DVD cases, while German demos came in really cheap cardboard sleeves. I don't really collect Xbox demos, just the ones with survival horror games, but here you can see the ones I have containing Dino Crisis: http://crimson-ceremony.net/lostreleases/dcdemo/samplers.php
Damn, the game I was looking for is in your issue 22 with Dino Crisis, check at the bottom of the back cover, the pic next to Dino Crisis.
That was an awesome game, and I wish they'd actually made the sequel that was in development. A really underrated gem from that gen.
Are you looking for something pre-release, like a build or a demo? I remember renting it and finishing it in a weekend. I agree, extremely entertaining game. I'm surprised they even started a sequel. I didn't think the game sold very well. I agree on it being underrated. It just kind of came and went, without much praise or fanfare. My only complaint was that it was too short.
I don't want to derail this topic, although it seems like the main question has been answered... http://www.gpforums.co.nz/threads/70759-EA-Announce-Freedom-Battle-For-Liberty-Island Looks like there was a demo download on FilePlanet, but I don't know how legitimate it is. So don't trust me on that.
