Just saw this on the front page of Play-Asia: The Sega Mega Drive Twin Pad Player from Sega's official China distributor AtGames brings back all the memories of Sega's 16bit era. This official product does not only feature twenty hot built-in Mega Drive games, but also plays all original Sega Mega Drive (Japanese) and Sega Genesis (US) games. Further included in the package are two six-button joypads, AV cable and instructions sheet. Comes in Blue / Black / Green so far and launches in July. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-6z-49-en-70-2sf4.html Is there any other clone consoles that are officially endorsed?
maybe it is a GOAC/MOAC based console, who knows. Since Ben Heck made his "Exodus" on a MOAC/GOAC based console.
Most likley a genesis on a chip since they already have those handheld genesis with a 6 games built in (I have the street fighter 2 one), and ben heck wired a cartrdige port into it.
I want one but it might be useless if it doesn't take Mega CD and 32x. Why don't they just make a Neptune with CD drive?
Hmmm, because the neptune had more than just the Genesis/megadrive specs. I believe there was one more processor or so in the 32X part. But perhaps a an MD mixed with a portable CD player could be possible... because the portable (noname) CD players (you can buy them here for under 100 kroner) now a days are dirt cheap. So ?....
Some dvd players have megadrive inbuilt to run their menues That already exists. But never heard of portable cd players yet
Discman, and so forth ? I mean how hard could it be to make an MD plus a "discman" as a Mega CD ? When you already have the GOAC/MOAC.
The megacd is as complex (if not more regarding timings) as the megadrive... So you would need another glop chip... And megacd has like 6 times the amount of ram of the megadrive... probably not easy to make all fit in a cheap glop size.
necromancy , I know. Hmmm sorry , but it seems to me I wasn´t dreaming at all. When I remembered a CD player and a megadrive in the mix. Aiwa Mega CD Of course I know it was an official thing, but I think it would be possible for the people in pirate land of doing something similar now a days.
I think it's running via software emulation on a 32-bit ARM based CPU: http://www.linkedin.com/in/tmorita http://www.ereleases.com/pr/20050513003.html http://www.atgames.net/
DCEvoCE: that concludes it is possible to make a megaCD with the ARM cpu, and a GOAC. And it doesn´t need to be an official machine. Now we just need some pirate company doing it, since then I could enjoy a lot of the cool mega CD games and megadrive games.
