Just dicoverd that I had Mission: Impossible for NES and was all like "oh, do I own that game" h:. Anyone else ever had that feeling (and yes I've had abit to much vodka/rum/beer and to much N+)?
I once bought Virtua Fighter Kids and was happy to finally have all of the Saturn VFs together, then I discovered that I already bought it months ago -.-"
i had this almost uncountable times. it's really necessary to have a good and updated list over your collection, if you want to prevent double and tripple purchases.
Anytime I look through the Saturn collection. Its like, I know I have a complete US collection, but I still often forget about some of the games that came out in the US, and am surprised when I see them. Same goes for some Saturn Japanese games.
This sorta happened to me a few times, I remember looking through my IGN lists and being like "I totally forgot I had this game, I need to play it"
I've never managed to buy a game I've already had, but I'm often surprised to see some games in my collection I had forgotten about entirely. Usually games that were too cheap to miss so they were bought despite not really being wanted.
Yep! Finally bought the Radiant Silvergun sealed and found out I already have sealed copy among many of unchecked sealed games... -__-;
I've bought duplicate games enough that I thought it was important enough to have an updated list on hand all the time. My N-gage goes everywhere I go, so what I do is keep a list of games I own in an OpenOffice spreadsheet. Since there's no freeware Symbian Excel viewer, I export this into text files that I can call up in the third-party file explorer. I list many collection details, like the region of the game and whether or not I own packaging and documentation. It might be worth $10 to me to get a duplicate copy of a game just to have the manual, in some cases. I originally tried to make this a web application, but I've got the bug in my BIOS that prevents the web browser from operating correctly after it logs a memory error. Since the N-gage QD isn't user-updatable (and because all the Nokia dealers in the world pretend this thing never existed) I don't think I'll get that fixed any time soon.
I usually remember very well the games I own, at least the cover/box-art, but last week I bought a Mission: Impossible for the N64 (I thought I didn't have it) only to discover another copy days later in my other apartment (where I store most of my N64, Saturn and Xbox collection).
I do that all the time but not just for games... Yesterday I was perusing newegg and decided I should get myself an Eee PC. Went to snag my card from my bag and low and behold, an Eee PC. I had just used it hours before.:banghead:
Usually it happens after a few years. I find stuff in the basement all the time that surprises myself ;-)
Yeah, I've often bought games and found I'd already got them. It happens in collecting - but it is annoying when it is your current gen console that you play on regularly! JP, complete US Saturn? Cool! Have you put up pics in the collection forum?
yeah, you should post some pics! i know i wouldn't have room for a complete US Saturn collection. i hate those gd cases... i know i've bought doubles of some xbox games on accident. it happens mostly for series of games. i can never remember which games in a series i have or something like that.
Na, half (well, more like, well over half) of my Saturn collection is currently in storage due to it not fitting in my apartment. Once I graduate college and get a house there will be a Saturn room to house all of it ('cause its like, a little over 500 games, 33 Saturns, and God knows how much other stuff), and subsequently, pictures. :icon_bigg I think the the only pictures I posted there were of one of my Navi HiSaturns, maybe the one of my Panzer Dragoon OST collection, I dunno.
Oh, I have a sheet in Excel too. With price, shipping, platform, condition, date, year, and many other statistical information. And other for current auctions going, with account balance, exchange rates... ^^ And of course sheets for collection, platform releases... =P
