http://www.tssznews.com/2009/07/17/evidence-of-shenmue-iii-discovered-possibly-up-for-sale/ Note the "2/3" marking on the disc. Don't know if I'm gonna call this a fake or not... I just pray it's not although I couldn't imagine why Sega would have developed it in the first place as even Shenmue II was a bit late in the DC's lifeline. /edit sorry -had no bigger picture available, lol. If anyone could fix that, I'm kind of too lazy to save, resize and reupload it right now. -__-
I am hoping this is real also. It would have been nice if this series got finished. But I don't think it ever will. Worse games get more sequels anymore.
The Japanese-marking is to much a exact copy of the logo; instead of just writing the signs. So I'm pretty sure this is fake...
Yeah the character in front of - III is very thick, looks more "drawn" then written, which suggests that somebody tried to copy the characters. The accents above the characters look a bit overdone too.
Look at the handwriting, horrible horrible gaijin attempt to write in Japanese. Japanese people write smaller, tiny even. Fail.
I call BS too, especially since someone said in the comments that this was a hoax that was several years old...but nevertheless, I'm impressed that writing "Shenmue III" sloppily in katakana on a GD-R still makes some people all excited
If this was even remotely close to being 'real' then the person who owned it would have posted screenshots of whatever was on the disc. As it stands it's a blank GD Rom with some feeble attempt at Japanese writing on it. Hmm...this has got me thinking! Anyone wanna see a picture of my Jet Set Radio Future 7 (Beta build 430. rev2) GD Rom? No? Thought not.
I was so excited to see something like a shenmue-related GD-R popping up, I thought the crappy kana writing might have been due to the attempt to recreate the "ink-style" shenmue logo of the game cover and not to just write the title. But I have to agree, it looks fake as hell if you judge it by the Katakana... and anyone who has a spare gd-r can do that.
Just like asking some Joe-nobody to write Chinese. A poor attempt. Anyone native would write very fast in one shot. In most cases (At least in Chinese), scripted as well; that is, never taking your pen off the page/cd and writing it correctly so one character links to the next.
I call total BS. somebody's hands lacked confidence when writing this, and even if the writing was good I d still call BS. you don't go into developing such an expensive game when your previous two attempts failed and your company is changing corporate personality, much less for a platform that's future was certainly bad by the time they waited to recoup any losses caused by the development of the previous two titles.
100% true. No Japanese would write such ugly letters unless they were a child. Fake as a Chinese Rolex. Yakumo
No question about this one. Not only is the Japanese horribly written, but anyone that has blank gd-r's can just take a black marker and write that. You'd think they could show even more proof if it were real. Of course the site this news originated on is known to suck. Someone likely sent it in as a joke and of course wanting to get ANY news they can(they report on forum trifles for gods sake...) they post it up saying a "tipster" sent it in. Funny really
Looks to me like whoever did this was trying to imitate the font on the original Shenmue packaging. Waste of a GDR, really.
if BS fake or not, it still could be written by japanese hands. there's absolut nothing speaking against it.
