So I've been on Vista almost 2 months a week from monday it'll be 2 months. Here there I've had minor annoyances and MAJOR ones like system restore eating my hard drive like Pac Man at a Cafe in amsterdam. But now...it's really done it. The fonts always have seemed to have a mind of their own sometimes bold sometimes not now it decides in all my web enabled programs (AIM, Limewire, IE, Chrome, Firefox) It displays standard font as itallics (AIM, IE, Limewire and Chrome) and as Huge BOLD font in Firefox, Utorrent isn't affected nor is pidgen or MSN Messanger. This all started when my computer got confused and had 2 versions of AIM installed and upon reinstalling the one I had deleted stopped one from working and reset it self. Then the messed up fonts began. So....I pretty much have to wait for Windows 7 to clear this up since I have no System restore points and have looked everywhere on here to try and repiar the fonts but couldn't find anything... BLARG.. well I'll be gettings windows 7 soon anyway. The most annoying part is I can't tell my read emails from my unread emails.
That sounds like a big load of fun. Your story reminds me of myself, having almost as much fun w/XP and it's brilliant features like not recognizing a new accessory or rebooting randomly after idling for an hour. And it supports my project to buy an iMac ASAP
I've never had this problem, then again I'm crazy about force changing my fonts in Firefox and in Vista. In Firefox, go to tools, options, content tab, and then fonts and colors for one thing. There's a tab to disable pages using their own fonts or something, and in colors there's one to disable window's selections. In Vista, I right click on my desktop, go to "personalize" and then go to windows color and appearance, then I click on the link below all that crap "Open classic appearance..." and from there, you can select whatever theme you're using, and you can change the fonts and all that you use in pretty much everything. For example, I'm using Aero, then I click on Advanced, and from there I can change the font to whatever with the various options for menus, scrollbars, etc. Hope this helps.
Limewire is good for porn...underground porn. I'll never look at golden retrievers the same way again that I will... Yeah I've tried all that. My biggest guess is the whole AIM thing did something to screw up the registry. I could go into the registry and see if that's the case.
anyways if you still like WHAT are you talking about over this font busiess here are 2 screen shots Google News in IE: and on firefox I know it doesn't look that bad and it's only a few websites/apps but IT'S ANNOYING. Esp when I check my e-mail.
Knopper is an option. It's only a week and a half until I get Windows 7 and everything but my screen savers is backed up I'm sure as fuck not getting a Mac like all my friends are.
I'm looking into purchasing Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate at the moment as I've heard good about 7 x64 (like it's ability to recognize certain hardware or software that XP x64 doesn't support). I'm proud that I completely avoided Vista so far. Fixing Vista computers for people is already irritating enough (are you sure you want to open up this .exe file? it cud b a viruz!) I could never see myself buying a Mac.
yeah that's not it either. I would have avoided vista too but I NEEDED a computer when I got this laptop. I was happy with it until now, yeah it's a very mild annoyance but it does make cirtian things hard to read. at the same time it makes some things easier to read. But I never said Hey VISTA make everything bold in Fire fox and italic in all my other webstuff....
Vista seemed like what what would happen if OSX and XP had a baby will the annoyances that came with OS 8 and 9 (last time I used a mac so yeah loooooooong time ago)
Ah, that's definitely understandable. My brother needed a computer and had to get a laptop with Vista (Ultimate, at least). :/ I'm curious how the font just got altered like that. Druid II: Yeah, Microsoft seems to have been copying the Mac OS X theme since Vista. I'm still no fan of themes that eat half your ram.
