I've been playing Okami and love the ways it's different...the music, graphics, play etc... I was wondering what other games have that quirkiness...and 'differentness' Ico comes to mind, as does Rez..... Any others? (I'm open to any platform)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. One of my favourite games of the previous generation, although most people don't pay much mind to it. It's a platformer, unlike the Donkey Konga series, but it's controlled using the bongos. Really fun and very impressive visuals as well. Animal Leader (Cubivore in the US) is also a quirky title which i find fun. This is also a gamecube game, originally designed for the 64DD but never released. As far as platformers go, Chibi Robo is a unique and addictive approach - much better than any other platformers on the 'cube (even sunshine).
As far as different games go... Ico SOTC Majora's Mask TSFP - Very quirky game, and tons of fun Katamari Damacy Possibly Monster Hunter and its other games Kingdom Hearts Grafiti Kingdom - You can design your own hero with a 3-d editor!! Well, some of these are quirky in setting but others are quirky or different in gameplay.
Dead Rising, sort of like a mixture of Majora's Mask's time system and Metal Gear Solid's bosses. Well worth the $30-40 price tag it has now.
What AWS said. Its got tons of zany characters, like an undead cow carcass that moos, an Evil Clown, an Evil Gingerbread man, a Duck man, and about 100 others. It parodies most FPSs, but its really fun, and the mapmaker is easy to use and pretty fun to screw around in, because the game allows you to make your own campaign levels with AI, or a multiplayer level with Shotgun wielding Gingerbread men who all say "Bite my crunchy brown ASS.":icon_bigg
The MGS games can be rather quirky in their own ways, too. Anybody recall: "I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hari-Kari rock. I need scissors! 61!"
A bit off topic, but a website is now claiming that Okami will be coming to the Wii: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=85578 I'm not that surprised, since I thought it should have come out on the Wii in the first place. May give it a second chance.
I definitely get you when you say you want games that are "different". Really differen't games to me are Psychonauts Jet Grind Radio (Nothing else is like this game) Samba de Amigo Jumping Flash! Series That is all...
True, although Capcom kept the rights to Okami, so they can make sequels if they feel like it. Granted, with such low sales on the PS2, I don't see that happening unless the supposed Wii port does well.
