I stole this concept from the AtariAge forums, because i wanted the ASSEMbler perspective no it. We've all been at collecting for a while now, in most cases. Let's say you had to start over, from scratch. Let us also say that you are limited to spending $300. With the knowledge you had now, what would you start with?
$300 in what timeframe? Should that last me a year, a month or a week? To make it more exciting, let's say those $300 should last me a year. I would probably buy: JPN Sega Saturn, loose ($30) Battle Garegga, no spinecard ($60) Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter RAM-Package ($50) JPN Mega Drive ($15) + Everdrive ($75) + Turbofire 6 Button-Controller ($10) JPN GameCube, loose ($15) JPN F-Zero GX ($20) That's $275. I'm already beyond $300 if you add all the shipping, but I that stuff would be all I'd take to a deserted island
Okay, if it has to last a year, let's be realistic: 1. you can resell within that 12 months 2. You can mod within that timeframe, BUT, the mods must fall into the original $300 OR profits made from selling something else (bought with the original $300) AT fair market value or less. 3. Ultimately, the goal is to end up with as close to an ideal setup as possible at the end of the 12 months for your use. Nice start!
