Does anyone happen to have some old demo discs floating around from the mid 90's? I am trying to remember some of the strange games and videos that were on them and I cannot find any that are easily accessible. It's worth a shot since it seems most people here hold on to things like I do. I still have all the boxes to every game I have ever bought, my mom was a smart lady.
I might have some of these at my parents' house, if they haven't all been thrown away..although I've got more PC Format discs than PC Gamer ones. The shareware games section always had the weirdest stuff.
PC Gamer specifically? I've got discs 2.2 (March 95) to 2.6 (July 96), 2.13 (Feb 97) and 2.14 (March 97), 3.5 (Aug 97), 3.8 (Nov 97), 3.10 (Jan 98), and 4.6 (Dec 98). I've also got a few other discs from other magazines, like Ultra.
I'm also interested in this. Does anyone have the PC Gamer Volume 4 Number 1, January 1997 disc? It has the 'Daggerfall Betony Demo' on it which I'm trying to get with it's original timestamps.
I actually think any of those older demo discs would be neat to play around with. I am actually heading to my parents soon and think I might be able to dig through and find a few. I wonder if there would be any interest in trying to back these old discs up and make an archive.
I'm looking for ones that might have; The Men in Black, Die By the Sword, Scorched Earth, Total Annihilation. Actually any discs from 95-97 and specifically January 1998, there were some games on there that I think were never released and a few early builds. I just remember those games being on a few of them. That and the crazy intro videos and Coconut Monkey were a bit on the bizarre side. Edit:I just checked an old cd case and found one from July 1999 that has ;Worms Armageddon, Starsiege, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 etc.
I'll do some directory dumps and post the lists. If anyone wants something, I'll make an arc. If someone else wants to start a repo of the discs, I'd dump the whole CDs I have, but I don't personally have a site for storing discs, nor accounts on places where I could store an entire disc image.
