Is there anywhere where one can find software for these platforms nowadays? I found this "46 full working programs for hp jornada", which was mostly crap with a couple useful things, but that's about it. Just curious if there's any of it at all still out there. I can't even find Sim City. That makes me sad
There are many PocketPC/Windows CE models, which one do you have? Sim City was a retail boxed product, I see some for sale on amazon. Some links to freeware and shareware software: http://hpc.ru/soft/index.phtml?pl168=on https://www.soft32.com/mobile/windows-mobile/games/1/ https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/categories.asp http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ https://web.archive.org/web/2005032...arearchives.com/pda/index.cfm?Cat=3&SubCat=11 Apart from that, you'll have to resort to piracy by finding some old torrent or other p2p means like emule...
Wow, there were some big conversions to this platform. Hadn't heard of Everquest for a Pocket PC before.
HPCfactor is a GREAT resource... if only they'd let me register. They appear to be quite strict, not allowing downloads from the site until you show that you're gonna contribute to the community. I've submitted a registration but before I can even begin that process I have to wait for an email which....still hasn't shown up a couple days later. Looks like a great site though. Much thanks, Unclejun. I have a Compaq iPaq H3850 with PocketPC 2000 a Compaq iPaq H3950 (Proto/Engineering Sample) with PocketPC 2000 and a Jornada 720 with Windows CE 3.0 I've purchased physical copies of Tomb Raider and some Tetris game pack. Just to have, why not. There were definitely some cool games for the platform.
I had an account there back in 2017, but it got deleted for inactivity last december. Another link, for the GameAPI and the Quake port: http://www.wincesoft.de/index.html
I'm glad that other people still appreciate this devices. What I realized now (after bought a pocket pc: xda orbit) : Its very hard to find firmware updates for some pocket pc's these days. Many custom rom threads didn't receive updates after 2010 ~, most links are dead for a long time, too. That leads me to the idea to create a firmware rom archive for older pocket pc's before everything is gone! Is somebody willing to help? I have storage servers available already. Everything is setup and ready to go. Now looking for someone help me digging out firmware and tools for various devices and upload them. What I got already: - SDHC enabler for WM5 and WM6 (Allows 4gb+ cards) - Hard SPL v2 for various devices - USPL_modified (no file size check) for various devices like HTC P3300 - P3300 Firmware: ARTE_WM6.5, Daves_Evolution 6.5.5 v2 So if some of you still have any firmware for pocket pc or are willing to help then please message me [We can also host applications in future, np] Oh and btw easiest way to download stuff from HPCfactor currently is to get a paid subscription.
That's a great idea! Hope you get some response and get a good little archive going I need to register to become a paid subscriber though, right? I'm still trying to get registered...it's not easy, lol.
I should receive some issues of a french magazine dedicated to palmtops, the issues are from 2002 and they all come with a CD, there might be some interesting stuff on those. I have two Windows CE machines, a Nexterm SE thin client, it runs Windows CE 3.0 and a Navman icn510 GPS that runs Windows CE4.2, its battery is long dead and I can't find the power adapter... Pictures of the Nexterm thin client below, I found a screenshot utility that works on it, CaptCE http://oohito.com/wince/arm_j.htm Linux port for the Jornada devices: https://web.archive.org/web/20160708163254/http://jlime.com/wiki/downloads
Oh cool, let us know when you get them. I'm gonna share this link here as well, since it's a really good resource: http://oldhandhelds.com/
Received 9 mags with their CDs, uploaded all the PocketPC stuff at https://mega.nz/#!nwoxzKTa!ioNf1zWsSxZKoZIV9Pswvq2f2jJuj3EWi6VW0CQDqws
I have an old phone with an arm cpu somewhere with Windows mobile 6. According to wiki it's windows ce 5.0? Would any of this stuff work on it?
Probably not, Windows CE software has all sorts of checks in place to make sure your installing it on the right hardware. Wouldn't hurt to try though, you never know.
There's a demo available of Contra: https://findsoftwares.net/contra-pocket-pc-1-0-1-game-island-and-contra-findsoftwares-net.html Xnview has versions for PocketPC Mips/SH3/Arm/Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5/6 and 2003: https://www.xnview.com/fr/xnviewpocket/ https://www.xnview.com/fr/xnviewsmartphone/
That's 1.0.1, which did not get cracked, while 1.0.0 did. But it should have the full game in the data, so it's not a complete loss.
I wanted to try some software on the Nexterm, Contra and Quake didn't work, neither did Nefront. GAPI didn't have the proper model in its list, the 3D test utils were running slowly. ScummVM did work, but sound was very choppy. LeoFS did launch, but it expect a touch screen, so no luck here. Thought I would give the installed Pocket IE a try, the system completely froze while loading a page, only thing I could do was unplug the power after trying to close the app and turn the unit off with key combos and the power button. Now it doesn't start again...
