I need to write a CV and a cover letter like ASAP! LIKE TODAY! For a games tester job at SEGA! yes SEGA! They are doing a 3month games tester position over the summer! I must have! MUST I TELL YOU! So erm anyone got a cv template and things i could use pm me! (very unlikely to get it seeing as i have like almost no job experience but still! Its sega)
Experience: Working for free and being beaten at random intervals. 3DO: Whipped and beaten, tested mad dog mcree with real guns SONY: Checked playstation 2 to ensure DVD drives didn't last more than three years per unit ACCLAIM: Stole everything in sight and ordered $10,000 fridges weeks befor bankruptcy. Dear sega please please please hire me for free, I like to get coffee and work on sunday. (name here)

iWork 05 has damned good CV template pack but I guess you'll have to wait untill it arrives I wouldn't cry about missing the Sega job though - they seem to be always advertising for gamestesters so if it's gone this month the job will reappear next month.
yeah but its a 3month placement perfect for my university break (i think they advertised on the uni system because of that). So it will be very good! Ive been told to just send in a cv but ive also got a copy of a games tester application form so going to use the questions on that for the cover sheet... What do i write on a cover sheet?! Did you send Iwork btw?
Not yet - still not got a decent box to mail it in. I'll try "borrow" a box from work, either that or I can risk it ina large jiffy bag if you don't mind it having the potential to get completely crushed.
Maybe it's just me, but attempting to get an internship at a company to lift goods sounds a little immature and dishonest, to be frank. Plus, what do you get if three weeks into things, some random employee cruises by these boards and sees your posts? That could definately spell trouble for you.
Well actually you don't have to steal anything, becasue if you make yourself a valuble employee chances are you can get stuff for free. I've already gotten lots of shwag like posters, keychains, magazines, etc. Plus when the current consoles become obsolete (which they will be by this time next year) they'll start giving away Test PS2s and Xboxes. Hell, sometimes my place gives away ones that are busted becasue it's cheaper to buy new ones. Like my place is starting to give away the Wideboys and N64s they use for GBA testing, because they're not making very many GBA games these days (and they're no good for DS games.)
Sorry its late, but a cover letter says read my CV, don't toss it in the bin. CV tells them what experience you have, and a bit about you, in 3 pages or less, a cover letter tells them why they should read your CV. I find it amusing that people think they get a job testing games and will be able to nick huge amounts of stuff. Hehe, yeah OK - sega even used to put their testing consoles behind glass in the MD days, sometimes!
Ill be closer then you! Mostly i wanna ask questions to people who been working there for years though.
