After nearly 3 weeks of trying to figure everything out for my new PC, I finally managed to get it to work. Fortunatly, I can get it to Windows XP and get it to work normally. However, I have issues when I restart it. Often, the screen will corrupt and it takes a few restarts for it to work. Often, it will display corrupt graphics on the BIOS splash screen. Anywho, my question was this: is there anyway to fix it? I am currently using a 400w power supply. is the corruption due to the power supply and should I get a new one? Also, the PC needs a giant ass fan that I am going to get tomorrow. Is that another reason it is corrupting?
a graphics card issue? Thats definitly not a power supply problem and its not a heat problem either. Neither of those would only cause problems when you restart. I would say it could be driver related but on a restart at the bios screen Windows Drivers are not running so there shouldnt be a issue.
Hmm, I dare say it might be. I didn't want to think it would be, but I dare say it is. Since my PC supports dual video cards, would it benefit from two 8600GT series cards?
If you do anything thats graphics intensive like gaming or whatever 2 8600gt's would benifit you very much. On your issue i beleive it to be graphics problem but not sure exactly what it is thats wrong
I'm having issues with my PC too. Anything with Videos and Java (and no cirtian screen savers) will cause the screen to refresh rapidly until I either close the window or the monitor just doesn't recive info from the computer anymore. Sometimes windows won't even boot it'll just go black and I need to restart in safe mode save my settings and reboot.
Doubt it, these are both brand new memory sticks and they seem to both run fairly fine. On windows as well. I was having some trouble with my graphics card before, if that helps.
Thats a new card. If I were you I would call the company and tell them the story. Most likly they will have you ship it to them and they will send you a brand new one. If its eVGA brand you will be very happy. I sent in my broken 5900 Ultra about 3 or 4 years ago and they sent me back a 6800 Ultra (the best nvidia had at the time) and didnt charge me or anything
I had that on my old Radeon 9200 recently, but only at higher resolutions. All text has weird squares around it, and images had borders :S Swapped it out, put a new one it and it was fine.
