http://www.totalvideogames.com/articles/SE...727_0_40_80.htm Q. Finally TVG ran an April Fools gag this year about SEGA’s supposed re-entry to the hardware market in the West. Do you ever think that the company will ever return to the hardware fold or was the Dreamcast really the end of the line? A. One never knows...
This is like the 50th topic that asks the same damn question... will sega ever re-enter the hardware business.
Good lord. You know what, madhatter is right. This topic gets posted about every month, and the answer is always the same. No, it would be impossible for Sega to come back. Sure, this is a quote, but that doesn't mean Sega is going to make a comeback. Face the facts. Sega as we knew it is gone, washed up, sold out, no more, and there's nothing we can do about it. Get a grip people, damn.
It pointed to an interview (which was taken down now), which talked about the "possibilities" (aka when pigs fly) about sega coming back into the console making.
I don't know guys... stranger things have happened. Ten years ago, for example, I never thought that I'd see a Sonic game on a Nintendo system and now we see one every 6 months. R&D for a new console is hella expensive but maybe if Sega is bought out or is merged with a bigger company that is willing to front so much to compete in the hardware wars, maybe then we'll see the unthinkable. Is the Dreamcast really the end of Sega consoles? God, I hope not...
Im really not going to bother following links with not a single hint of what its about... give us some info if your posting a link
I hope so! ----------------- SEGA sits on top of a vast horde of franchises that fans would desperately like to see sequels; titles such as Shenmue, Nights, etc… still hold a place in every SEGA fanatic’s heart, can we expect SEGA Japan’s consumer division to still focus on such titles? Oooh, top secret at the moment, can’t tell you right now because the opposition reads these hallowed pages. But, we can guarantee that MANY of the great SEGA franchises will be re-born and grace the next-gen consoles.
