Hi, i bought a ONEChip from Bad and i can't make it work on a PM-41 Pal board (scph-102) the installation itself is good, it's not my first time installing a modchip, i have a lot of experience i tried many different diagrams, with or without stealth/ntsc fix but i always get the insert a Playstation format disc or just nothing happens :/ i'm really out of ideas, i saw someone else having the same problem on Eurasia and the problem stayed unsolved unfortunately i tested PAL backups, i'll try to get an original ASAP to test also but it doesn't seem to come from the laser as it plays Audio CDs fine and i tried adjusting the pot thanks !
Without testing an original you can't be sure your installation is good. PSone installs are harder than regular Playstation installs due to the size of the board and the components on it. It's a good sign that it plays Audio CD though, and the on screen "Insert a..." message shows it's looking at the disc so you're probably close. I know it's stating the obvious, but are you sure you ordered the right chip?
Oh yeah, it was in a little bag with ONEChip on it, plus i'm sure the ntsc fix is working because the TV is in black and white when i solder the wires on the bios and colours appears when these wires are disconnected so i think it shows that the chip is ok
hey, i found some time to do more testing, so: with the mod chip the unit can't boot originals, it detects it like an Audio CD for maybe 2s and then nothing with the mod chip pin 1 disconnected, the console boots originals fine it's the exact same problem as this guy: http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forums&file=viewtopic&forum=82&topic=5847 any idea ?
Could be that the PIC was faulty from factory with incorrect OSCAL offset data. Would prove right if the console worked fine with 8 wire mayumi code. I had a PIC12F508 that I made OneChip from, but messed up the OSCAL. It was terrible! The console would repeatedly black screen since it was patching the bios wrong.
well the chip come from Bad_Ad84 so i assume it's good also the Bios patching seems to work fine as i have black&white image when the chip is installed and colors without i don't think Mayumi would work since it's a 102 PAL unit (PM-41 board) but i'll give it a shot i also plan to test OldCrow style chips
Mayumi will work if you figure out the wiring, you can use MM3 on 102, the only issue you get is the BIOS allows only PAL mode discs to be booted, similar to the JPN SCPHxx00 and SCPH100 not allowing anything other than SCEI discs to be booted. You will have to read about it but some people (I think BadAd himself suggests it in some posts) put a decoupling cap between some lines on the chip - I cannot remember from memory which these are for you though :/
Pictures of your install. No offense, but every single person who tells me their soldering is fine and its the chip - its been the soldering. We can all make mistakes, so best to post some pictures before going any further into it.
yeah no problem, it did it multiple times and it's clean every time for now the chip is removed, i'll get it back on the board for the picture
