Hello, my question is about the ONECHIP for the PSONE, is it normal that you can't boot out of the memory card screen? It says please insert a playstation format disc. I can direct boot just fine. Disc change also is fine. Only boot out of the memcard screen doesn't work. Thx for your answers. I mean Backups & NTSC Origs. It's PAL and 8 WIRE Installation.
I mean you can direct boot these games, ntsc origs, ntsc backups + pal backups but you can not boot these games if you first boot to memcard screen, insert a game and close the tray. This is the question
When you are playing a game, wait till it's just playing music off the disc or not accessing the disc at all. Open and then close the lid. When the game tries to load again, does the game continue or stop? If it works fine then I guess it's the BIOS. Otherwise it's because the modchip "turns off" or otherwise doesn't work except at powerup. I have some modchips like that.
Okay i have just tested with fifa98 backup cd, i can open the tray, the cd stops, musik stops, close the tray > cd spins up > musik come back, it works flawlessly. Edit: The Onechip is a stealthchip, maybe you're right because of the stealth. I'am just asking this question, because i want to know from something who has a onechip, if this is normal or i have something set up wrong?
It's because the chip has to patch the bios to play another region. If you boot without a disc, the bios patch doesn't happen and games from another region will not boot. Backups and originals from your correct region should boot from the memory card menu fine, it's just imports that won't work. It's normal, as I said above.
Hm i think you are half right , pal backups also don't work out of the memcard screen, only orignal, but as you say the bios patch could be the "problem"
Pal backups SHOULD work. I have modded many psones, all worked with correct region game (including backups). Imports didn't unless you boot it with the game already in.
Hm, but all other works fine, stealth games works, ntsc backups works, pal backups works and ntsc & pal origs also, but only directboot. Is it possible that the chip skip the startuproutines if there is no disc in, so only origs would recognized?

I tried it and you are right, if i boot the psone without disc to memcardscreen lidclosed. then insert any disc, ntsc, pal, orig or backup just boots fine! But when i power on with lid open, then there is no way to boot any backup or ntsc game! Thx this was the hint! :thumbsup:
