I got dinner from 7-11 last night, a yakisoba bento. For those of you who don't know yakisoba: http://www.go-tanda.jp/sawa-yakisoba.jpg

I took off the wrapper and the cover and I noticed that a piece of yakisoba had fallen off the side so I picked it up and ate it. I started chewing it and realized that it wasn't yakisoba, it was the rubber band that had held the chopsticks in place over the top of the box. The color matched perfectly.

I have to say that that's the first time I've ever mistakenly eaten a rubber band thinking it was food....

Isn't that more to do with you not paying attention rather then it being Japan? I suppose it was lucky you were not in America in a McDonalds as heaven knows what you might have eaten. :p

Of couse noodles that are a little brown are only sold in Japan. :D

In china they make them a slidghtly different shade of brown so Gaijin don't confuse noodles with rubber bands.

Happened to me twice. Not in Japan though.
The band really perfectly looked like the noodle... there was no way I could have avoided this.

I don`t know you might mistake the red elastic band for a piece of pickled ginger or the green elastic band for a piece of seaweed... :p

Why anyone would go to a 7-11 w/o a slurpee machine is beyond me.

Lawson is piss poor compared to 7/11 when it comes to bentos and sandwiches though I have no idea about Natural Lawson since I've never seen one.
