Yeah, that was posted on here about 2 years ago. Just shows how hard up Atari were for cash when they had to sell off the designs to their console.

Did any of the Jag collectors manage to get their hands on a unit or casing?

I've heard that it was just a hoax.

The opinion over at AtariAge is that it's real, and they seem to be pretty serious about Atari stuff.

Having another look at the forum right now, it looks like nobody's managed to get anything as of may this year, so I guess they're not going to at all. Would be amusing to see one pop up on ebay, I imagine it'd go for silly cash.

I do remember there being a thread in Atari Age, where users actually managed to contact the manufacturer. They wanted to see if the manufacturer would sell cases to Jaguar owners. Guess they did not succeed.

Not sure if there was anybody was still doubting this product, but a quick look at the manufacturers website (http://www.imaginsystems.com) would reveal that it is indeed real. Not sure why it would be a collectors item though.

I'm not much into the Jaguar scene, but is there a particular reason why somebody would want empty shells of one?

Well, to use it as a shell for an actual Atari Jaguar.

Remember that this dental equipment is not an actual Jaguar. It's a different equipment that uses the same plastic mold that Atari used for the Jaguar. Turns out they sold the mold, apparently.

Just to keep as Jag-related memorabilia, I would have thought.
