I've been after this disc off and on for a few months now, haven't seen it available anywhere in terms of being able to acquire it as an image. Shame the disc I got had to be buffed with Brasso before I could rip it error free.

Official Playstation Magazine Issue #57's demo disc. This disc is only particularly notable as it contains Uplink which was an early demo of Half-Life for the PC...but for the PS2.

You'll need Half-Life for the PS2 to be able to use this, instructions are available on GameFaqs:

Is this the same as SCED-53160? it has a MGS3 pic on the case.

    THANKS!

Always great to discover new levels for Half Life, especially for the PS2.

I have Half Life installed in my PS2 hard drive. It would be interesting to get this combined on one disc with the original PS2 Half Life. The idea is then have the added demo level playable in the hard drive.

This brings up another point. Maybe this is a way to load Home Brew levels in the PS2 version?

What is the password of the Megaload Zip file?

No idea. It seems OPM here in the US resets their issue numbers so often. May 2011's issue was #57 as well it would appear.

Do you know the name or folder of the Half Life files that appear on the disc? just trying to establish if there's a European equivalent.

Nothing named Half-Life but there is a folder labeled "UPLINK" with two files inside:

Volume in drive F is SCUS_97183
    Volume Serial Number is C88D-4374

    Directory of F:\UPLINK

    01/30/2002 11:07 PM <DIR> .
    03/01/2002 01:51 AM <DIR> ..
    01/09/2002 05:03 PM 3,795,520 PAK0.PAK
    01/03/2002 10:47 PM 2,528,556 UPLINK.PAK
    2 File(s) 6,324,076 bytes
    2 Dir(s) 0 bytes free

Personally I wouldn't get your hopes up that there is a European equivalent. Most of these magazines were very independent affairs in terms of what was written putting aside the demo discs.

BTW, the first version in that guide on GameFAQs linked above is June 9, 2004. It'd be a safe bet that #57 came out no later than June 2004 then, possibly was the May or June issue.

Additionally, Medal of Honor: Frontline was released May 28, 2002 for the PS2 and this disc had it as a playable demo. Something on Google pitted the date to early 2002, I'll see if I can do some more digging.

    Edit #2:

    JACKPOT!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/57-Official-U-S...350468271290?pt=Magazines&hash=item5199896cba

It came from issue #57 (should've been obvious I suppose) which was put out June 2002. Hope that helps.

The youngest one I have is January 2003 - issue 29.
So that'd put it as issue 22.

If anyone wants them, here are the relevant files as well as a GBX file found in the root directory whose file name suggests its what interfaces with Half-Life to allow Uplink to function.

I am pretty sure I looked into it awhile ago, but I remember it being difficult to compile maps for that version of Half-life. Awhile ago I remember hearing someone finally got Decay (The Co op) maps and remade it for the PC, but I am pretty sure they edited them after decompiling the PS2 ver. Not sure.

What I do know is that at one point it was possible to compile maps for the Xbox version of HL2 that would work. I loaded them on my modded Xbob, but that was on an older version of the editor, might not be possible anymore.

What I really want is a 360 that can run unsigned content so I can compile maps for the Orange Box version of HL2. Theoretically, it should work, and when my mod is finished I could port it to that (easily I would think), but with a user base so small its probably not worth the hassle.

Oh, & APE, Thank you so much for this! Always wanted to try this on my PS2 version only cuz that code has always interested me, and that Demo Disc never came into my hands.

You forgot to include the following directories from the OPM Demo Disc in your small archive:
    /GUIDATA
    /ICONS
    /MUSIC
    /PAKS
    /VALVE

Nice find. Uplink is a pretty cool game. Had it on a PC Gamer Demo disc back in the day.
