Since a thread listing every flash cartridge already exists at AtariAge (not sure if I can add a link to it here) I was hoping to compile a list of optical drive emulator hardwares that exist or are in development. Systems that can load games from HD using homebrew will be left out of this list. Ex: PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360. I'll start with the ones I know and I'll add when you guys post it here; PANASONIC 3DO: IDE HD adapter - 120GB Limit - 3.5" ready to order / 2.5" will be ready in March. made by Mnemonic http://3do-renovation.ru/3DO_IDE_adapter.htm NINTENDO GAME CUBE and WII: WODE - made primary for the WII but can be attached to the Game Cube. Supports Wii and Game Cube iso loading via LCD screen or on screen software. Support up to 3TB. Do not support around 30 Game Cube games that have audio streaming. www.wodejukebox.com IDE to EXI adapter for the Game Cube. IDE adapter for the memory card port, support up to 2TB, no audio streaming issue (according to the developers). Currently SOLD OUT. Requires a way to load homebrew to load the ISOs. http://gcforever.bigcartel.com/product/gc-ide-hdd-loader Sony Playstation: PSIO in early development. Sega Dreamcast: I know that one is being made but I have no information about it, please add here. Sega Mega CD: None Philips CD-I: None Sega Saturn: None Atari Jaguar: None TurboGrafx CD/Pc Engine CD: None Neo Geo CD: None If you have further information, please, let me know.
Yeah, I'd also be interested to see if there's any improvement on the Neo CD. Hopefully we'll see something this year for the Dreamcast. A Super CD Rom2 emulator for the PC Engine would be fantastic too.
I wonder if the project for the 3DO would be so different from the Neo Geo CD. I think maybe could be, for the old systems that don't have any kind of backup protection, a single solution an ultimate iso loader that emulates the drive. This might be possible since for floppy disks, like old musical keyboards and commodore, amiga etc.. exist such a thing that uses SD card. A disket drive emulator solution for everything.
