I just ordered an ED64 v2.5 from krikzz.com I'll be getting it in about 20 days. I figured while I wait I can get some tips from other owners for things to do when it gets here. Does anyone have any suggestions or things they wish they knew when they got their's?
Well, there aren't that many 'tips' to it. Just when you want to save a game, make sure to hit save, then reset button and then power off.
Don't get it wet, don't feed it after midnight. Look into alternative menus like alt64. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball. If you did not actually order from krikzz.com or one of the resellers, updating might brick your cart.
Ha a bunch of smart asses today. Good for a laugh though. Thanks for the couple of suggestions though.
The official forum is: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0 and you can read about compatibility here: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=147.0 and there are downloads of pre-patched and hard to find roms at: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5289.0 As EverythingSuperMario says, there's not a lot to using an Everdrive, as the menus are easy to use. Make sure the SD card is formatted to FAT32 and has no name (I mean when you format the card, don't give it a name, as the Everdrive 64 doesn't like SD cards to have a name), and always RESET the N64 after playing a game, even if you've finished with the N64, and want to turn it off. The Everdrive 64 can only save to the SD card when the N64 is reset, so get into the habit of always reseting the N64, even if you're then going to turn it off for the night. You need the expansion pak to play some hacked games and game mods, plus you need it anyway to play Donkey Kong 64, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and the expansion pak benefits quite a few other games too (Perfect Dark, for example, is almost not worth playing if you don't have one), so any N64 fan should really have the expansion pak anyway. If you don't have the game roms you want, then it's no problem, as all of the N64 roms are easy to find on emulater rom download sites anyway (just google for them, or ask for sites on the official Everdrive 64 forum), and the ones with patches are available in both patched and unpatched versions. Or for convenience you can download a full romset via torrent, or Smokemonster's mostly complete ED64 rom collection, from: http://theisozone.com/downloads/other-consoles/n64/smokemonster-everdrive-everdrive-64-v30/ http://www.theisozone.com/downloads...emonster-everdrive-everdrive-64-v30-part-456/ http://theisozone.com/downloads/other-consoles/n64/smokemonster-everdrive-everdrive-64-v30-part-7/ If those links stop working, then google for: smokemonster everdrive 64 If you have any problems, look through the official Everdrive 64 forum, and if you can't find a working solution, just post there about it, it's a friendly and helpful group.
