He's a professional artwork thief. He got caught though when he tried to steal the famous 'The Scream' from the Norway museum.
Atari Superman pinball adversting art I know some of the old links are bad in this thread. I've been fixing them little by little.
Yoshitaka Amano art. I can't afford an Amano painting which can sell for 20k+ so I had to settle for some sketches. Tale of the Genji 1st ed signed w Yoshitaka Amano sketch HERO 1st ed signed w Yoshitaka Amano sketch
just had an 80's flashback, those were the days! Everything's 3D nowadays, and I don't like it. sorry can't resist.. IRONSWORD!!!
It's almost amazing how bad some or those earlier artists were. Me thinks the commision price has increased over the years. Out of curiosity though, which Shadowrun were those ads done up for? I'm thinking SNES but really have nothing to base that on.
Just been back through the thread... incredible collection. I don't like the artwork itself much, but it's a really astonishing selection. It also serves as a kind of cultural portrait - there is nothing which says "late 80s/early 90s" more than a cartoon kid on a fluorescent skateboard with wrap-around shades. It's almost all Western art. Is that a personal choice, or is it just really tough to find original Japanese game artwork?
jeezuz that transformers painting is amazing.. proboably worth a mint aswell h: amazing collection, makes my arcade-flyer collection wanna go cry in the corner :crying:
A long time ago I ran into Amano in NYC, he used to live there and he had a few exhibits. I got to talk to him for a long time. His small hobby is ceramics, so I got to see a lot of them. Of course it was hard to keep secret where he lived but I did. This was over 8 years ago mind you. I have a picture but it's small by today's standards. It a print from one of his shows. It has his hanko on it plus english signature.
Nice collection, I usually enjoy b&w art more than the colored version but there are some incredible paintings there. Got one question though, who's the artist behind the Earthworm Jim cover art? I know Doug TenNapel created the character. but I've never been able to find out if he drew the game's covers or not.
