Original SCPH-1001 Japanese audio problem/action replay not working

My original Playstation from Japan is on the fritz. During startup there's a bouncing l/r audio effect. Games sound better but there's still some audio issues. Also, the action replay won't startup. What do I need to do to fix this? I had it modded nearly 20 years ago.
