Hi guys, I hope someone can help.

I have a 2004 Original Xbox here (I believe its a 1.6) that has been modded with an Xecuter 2.6 modchip. On boot it is getting an Error 05 and there is no Xecuter2 wording on the bottom of the screen after the usual blob intro animation. The modchip has all wiring present including the addition of the 5V (which leads me to believe that this is in fact a 1.6 unit) but no switch panel so I cannot tell what mode it is currently in.

If I take the chip out, I get the same 05 error. I cannot boot past it with any of the discs I have (Hexen, Slayers or AID - All of which work on my other TSOP flashed Xbox).

As I do not have the eeprom or any way of getting it (my PC has no IDE or Serial port), what can I do to get this up and running again if anything at all?

    Your help is appreciated.

That sounds like the chip isn't doing its thing (E05 means "disk ain't locked, yo", which is a thing that would simply be ignored by the replacement BIOS loaded from the chip). Is that box new (to you) or did it work before? I'm not sure about the Xecuter in particular, but some chips disable themselves by booting up in certain ways - Try short and long presses on both the power and reset buttons to turn on the console.

Its new (to me) and had been sitting dormant in someones room for a few years so not sure if it / when it last worked property.

Will try the long press tip to see if that does anything. (EDIT - Did nothing Unfortunately)

Incidentally, I have a second Xbox here (V1.2) with an Aladdin chip in it. Could I mod the first Xbox with this to get it back to working order? If so then I could simply TSOP mod the V1.2 and everyone is a winner :)

Sure, a replacement chip should do the trick. Maybe put one of the 1.6 specific BIOSes on it before removing it from the 1.2 box - I'm not sure it'is necessary, but better safe than sorry, right?

Agree on the error 5 unlocked hard drive error.
If the xecuter 2 doesn't have any switches attached it's likely not even on, or at least loading a proper bios. Previous owner probably unlocked the hard drive, or replaced it with a large drive.
Either way, if the pin headers are already there grab a cheap Aladdin xt from zero2k11 in the marketplace. Assuming it's a 1.6 the lpc does require some rewriting which should be done already providing that chip even worked before you got it.
