    hello all,

A long time ago one of my first console modding attempts went wrong. I was trying to solder in a DuoX3 modchip into my original xbox. I ended up giving up, but not before accidentally removing one of the capacitors.

It still boots up fine, which is strange. So my question is this, is my xbox broken? Will it break? Can I fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

It's not cap, but a resistor. I don't have a xbox, but once you got the correct value someone with experience can easly solder and fix the broken trace ;)

I'm sorry but i cannot help you more, because i don't know which is the function of this resistor (filter, pull up\down resistor etc)

    What version board is this?
If you want the value I can pull out some of my spare boards and get it for you :)

    or: http://www.xbox-scene.com/versions_1.php

Also, its very close by the LED driver part, are all leds arround the power button working?, poweron, ejecting a dvd, what if you dont connect video (orange)?

I put a red circle arround the area and the underside holds a note about the led controller (which your modchip uses I think)
could be 10K, but someone could check another board.

Did some googleing,is it the BT point? looks like a 1.6 board, but not sure.

EDIT: Yes, picture below, its a 1.6

So could be a 10K, but someone with a board close by and you might have to find out the version.
if its the button resistor, can it eject? it looks like a "pull-up" resistor, better dont leave it floating, it may turn of/on or eject randomly:p

please not im not an expert in electronics, this post might help explain stuff but I could be totaly wrong. also the schematics I show are as detailed as I have them.. unreadable.

looks like a 1.6, also did you try seeing if the red lights work? (try disconecting the video or harddrive and look at the colors)
or is the eject button still working?

Thanks so much for the help. I'll check the eject button and the lights when I get home tonight.

I checked the LEDs and they all seem to work ok. The tray ejects really sluggish and usually not all the way, but I'm not sure if that was pre existing or not.
