I wish to use the power supply from an original Xbox to power a different device for a project. All i want to achieve is to have the Xbox power supply constantly on to power something else that will be housed inside the Xbox case. I do not want to incorporate the power switch on the front of the Xbox. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if I connect the +3.3v standby to the PowON if this will make the power supply permanently on. I've tested the voltages with a multimeter from the psu and can see that the PowON cable is 3.3v after pressing the power button and it keeps that voltage until the power is switched off but I don't understand electronic circuits so i'm wondering if there is more to it that just connecting 2 wires to bypass the Xbox motherboard and power switch.
