Original Xbox with Dead HDD

Finally i got the chip. I installed it but the console still boots normally like no chip is installed. What should i do?

 

So it actually boots now? Now the only problem is that the stock hdd you installed doesn't have a custom dash installed.
Id consider it a win if the xbox is actually booting now. Now you would need to run slayers I think. Honestly never messed with a cheap mod modchip before.

honestly it's possible all the chip does is enable the use of burned discs. But I'm not sure on that, again very little knowledge on that particular chip.

 

So here is my situation. The console turns on and gives me error 16 if the chip is installed but without the D0 point grounded. If it is grounded this is what the console does: Turns on-->turns off after 2 seconds-->Turns on-->turns off after 2 seconds-->Turns on with blinking red light . What should I do? if the xbox is giving you the on-off and flashing lights is called frag, there is a short somewhere check the solders of the chip installation.
If you get the chip to boot use the Hexen disk to install the new HDD, is the easiest one to follow.

 

I tried to resolder everything. Now with the D0 grounded the console turns on without fragging but it still gives me error 16.

 

Error 16 can be solved by booting the system with a DVD in the drive, as modchips boot D:\ first.

 

I got a CD-R with Hexen in the Drive but stil gives error 16

Just another question, the boot animation is the same even with the chip?

Don't know if it is important but the clock capacitor is removed.

I also noticed another thing with Halo 2 in the drive. If the Chip is enabled I get error 16, if it is disabled i get error 05.

 

if is giving you error 16 with a disc that means is not reading the disc for some reason check burning the iso in a dvd. The error 5 is because the HDD is not locked for obvious reasons is new.

 

There is another problem My dad tried to resolder two wires on the lpc but while he tried that he took away a resistor. Precisely R7D5. How much Ohms is it? If I turn on the console with modchip enabled it frags, if it is disabled the console boots with error 16.

 

always use a maximum of 15watts iron to prevent that, and for the ohms I really don't know, Hexigon can help you with that.

 

No I can't, that type of stuff I have no clue of. I just know hardware not board components.

 

What version xbox is it?

I'd just buy a duo clone on aliexpress for $10 and solder the Write Enable jumpers, so you can flash a better bios.

Also your board looks very suspicious along the front where clock cap was ne'er that choke.

get some isopropyl and give the motherboard a clean.


If you still have the original hdd, try to get it too boot and soft mod the thing to get the key. Freezing sometimes works haha but I think this disk has died from bad sectors...

where are you located, there are a few people on here that could fix the console for you

 

It's version 1.0. Sorry for being late responding but i had no internet for a lot of days. I gave the console to a friend and he managed to get it working. He soldered back into place the resistor wich is 10k Ohm and he reprogrammed the lpcmod wich was in bad flash. After that he burned Slayers(don't know exactly the name) and installed Unleash X. The only problem is that the frontal leds don't turn on. He controlled them and they're fine. What could be the problem? Thanks

 

The mobo looks suspicious along the front check it for corrosion..

it it could just be bad settings
