The title explains it pretty much. There's a particular (22mb ._ mail constantly being "restored" (in the "restored mails" folder), again and again and again. I wondered why my upload was occupied and after a little investigation I found the 30+ "restored" copies of my last picture-heavy e-mail. Restarting Mail or rebooting the PC didn't work out, anything else I can do? >_<
That might be your problem. Try deleting the email from both the Gmail interface and the Mail interface. I hate IMAP syncing so I just stick with POP3/SMTP.
Fully. I already tried deleting it from the actual account using the web browser, but although it's no longer there, Mail keeps restoring it over and over again.
What can I do about it? Doesn't anyone have an idea? The mail is still being uploaded again and again and I can't do anything about it but to shut Mail down. I can't find it in my gmail account anymore after I deleted it there, so it's just "Mail" that still has it somehwere. Isn't there a way to clear Mail's cache or whereever this email is trapped?
I don't think it has anything to do with the mail cache. I recently formatted my HD and set everything up new. Mail when syncing via IMAP started loading email from almost 3 years ago, messages to my ex girlfriends etc. There was no trace of these anywhere on the web system or on my machine which means when you delete an email in gmail, it must never really delete it. The only way around this was to switch to POP3 and in Gmails settings, enable POP3 starting from today.
Alright, I ended up recreating my gmail account in Mail. It is now restoring thousands of mails, but at least it seems like the restoring has stopped
It's a known Mail bug. To fix it next time you can do this: Close Mail; Open terminal, go to /username/Library/Mail/IMAP-nameofyourgmail; Enter the following command "ls-a"; You will see a folder called .OfflineCache; Remove it by typing "rm .OfflineCache" This will stop the infinite restore bug.
