I am thinking of over clocking my model 1 Sega MegaDrive. I have watched the videos on youtube and 10Mhz seems to be a safe fair bet - is this oscillator ok for that? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10MHz-Xta...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item5d4172198d Also I take it obviously on that chip pin 7 = ground, pin 9 = 10 mhz signal, and pin 14= 5v? Help is appreciated
10mhz is a great choice, enough that most annoying slowdowns are gone (such as too many rings in Sonic 2) but not so much as to cause issues with sound. I've done it with model 1s and JVC X'EYEs without any trouble.
OK great thanks. Yeah all the threads and stuff I found online say that 10 Mhz is the safest and best option. Have ordered a couple of the oscillators so looking forward to doing this now!
You ordered 2 for £6? Ouch! In future, I'd suggest looking at my suppliers sticky and ordering from one of them. You might want to add a few things to the order to make it worth shipping from some of the suppliers (or reaching the free shipping level), but even 2 crystals shipped should be less than £6.
I know, it kinda hurt lol but I couldnt find anywhere in UK that sells them for lower unless you buy LOADS!
