I didn't know exactly where to stick this topic, so I put it here. Does anyone know of an actually FREE downloadable program that will let me do the following: 1)convert cd audio tracks straight into mp3/wav files 2)convert WMA files to MP3/wav and 3)be able to cut and shorten any MP3 or wav tracks?? Ive looked all over and all I find are onses that let you download it, then to only be able to use it for like 5 songs. Meh. Any help of info. would be appreciated.
Not really free but you should get soundforge. Yah could pay for it but its made by sony so I wouldnt (even though I did )
Get dbPower AMP. It can convert CD tracks and Mp3s....it can't edit them that I'm aware of....but its free and hits two of the 3 requirements ^_^
You don't mention what platform you're using so I'm guessing Windows. CDex Audacity LAME GX::Transcoder
M$ and MAC Actually that bloody Windows Media Player can rip to WMAs which you could then convert to MP3 fairly easy (just make sure you make ridiculously HIGH quality WMAs because [I feel] they're rather lossy). Or you could go download iTunes if you use Win2K, WinXP, or OS X. I've also been told there's a way you can do it with the free version of Winamp, but it requires some kind of arcane configuration (which they make more straightforward in the pay version). ~Krelian
GOLDWAVE The one and only thing you'll ever need. It supports every audio format out there and will convert from one to the other plus it has a fully working edit studio that can change EVERYTHING you ever wanted to change in a music track. You can rip CDs in to any format you want (MP3, OGG, WAV etc.) plus give all of the tracks names. You'll need at least a PIII which I'm sure you'll have. Gold Wave can even play the Saturn's PCM music track that no other play can play due to their strange sampling rate. You do have to change the audio settings and speed to play these files but it does work. Gold Wave is also FREE !! Well you should register it but even if you don't it still fully works. I've been a user of Goldwave for 3 years now. I don't know what I'd do with out it. Yakumo
I would suggest sound forge but I saw what they did to 7 and Im sticking with 5.5. its MUCH better IMHO.
i recomend you doing lame mp3 @ vbr, you will get the best quality and like 7mb per a 4 min song so is good and cdquality "cd quality is 320 not 128"
