What are some other places on the web like assemblergames.com where I might seek prototype game collectors (NOT downloads of previously leaked games)? I know about Hidden Palace, but it doesn't seem to experience much activity (at least... not on the surface). Basically, I'm searching high and low for someone that might own pre-release builds of a certain game. This forum is great, but I'd like to cover as many bases as possible, if you know what I mean. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I have plenty of SNES prototypes on my website, SNES Central. I haven't really had much time to update it this year, but I do still have a few prototypes to release. If something major comes up, you can bet I will be investigating it.
Going by his post I think he's not looking for downloads but rather another community where proto collectors dwell and he might be able to find someone with a proto he's looking for. In all my internet time, Assembler really seems like it. Maybe Digital Press, though after they eliminated their proto subforum some years back it's kinda isolated itself from that it feels like.
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm referring to. I'm not looking for downloads or anything of that nature, but thanks to the other posters all the same.
"http://www.retrocollect.com" on this site you'll find a lotta collectors of games and stuff like that. Cheers buddy
To be honest, other than perhaps Lost Levels, there is no real place where prototype collector gather. It is an extremely niche part of a fairly niche hobby (video game collecting in general). And even that niche is split into two groups: those who get prototypes for the sake of preservation, and those who get them for the sake of having something that no one else can have. You can't get those two groups in the same room. I do have a section on my forum on SNES Central for prototype stuff, but only a handful of people have more than a passing interest in prototypes.
Yeah, I knew about retrocollect, I was just never sure how to go about asking around there, since they don't have a section of the forums dedicated to... well, "unusual" things. Maybe I'll check there again sometime in the near future, though. Thanks for the other recommendations, guys.
